Use of DOI

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) can be used to cite and link to electronic documents. The DOI consists of a unique alphanumeric string assigned to a document by the publisher upon its initial electronic publication. This assigned identifier never changes, meaning that when authors use a DOI to create links to documents on the web, these links are guaranteed never to change.
