As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Originality — This submission is original, not published before, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Double-blind — The manuscript file is anonymized (no author names/affiliations/acknowledgements in the file or metadata).
  • Manuscript format — The main file is DOCX or PDF and follows the JPM template (title, abstract 150–250 words, 3–6 keywords, numbered lines/pages).
  • Figures & tables — Figures are high-quality PNG/JPG/TIFF (or embedded in the DOCX) with clear captions; tables are editable (not screenshots).
  • References — The reference list is complete and includes DOIs/URLs where available; in-text citations match the list.
  • Ethics & disclosures — Any funding, conflicts of interest, and ethics approvals (if applicable) are stated in the manuscript.

  • Permissions — I obtained permission to reuse any third-party figures/tables/data, and I will provide proofs if requested.
  • Data availability — A data availability statement is included; datasets or supplementary files are uploaded when appropriate.
  • ORCID (encouraged) — ORCID iDs are provided for authors where available.
  • Journal policies — The submission adheres to the Author Guidelines and may be checked for plagiarism/similarity by the journal.

Author Guidelines

Aims & Scope
The Journal of Petroleum and Mining publishes original research, reviews, technical notes, and short communications across petroleum engineering, drilling and production, reservoir characterization, EOR/IOR, refining & petrochemical processes, mining engineering, mineral processing, geomechanics, HSE, and related data/AI applications.

Article Types & Length

  • Research Article: 6,000–8,000 words (incl. references)

  • Review Article: 8,000–12,000 words

  • Technical Note / Case Study: 3,000–5,000 words

  • Short Communication: 2,000–3,000 words

  • Editorial/Commentary: up to 2,000 words

Language & Bilingual Policy (English)

  • Journal languages: Arabic and English. Manuscripts may be written entirely in Arabic or entirely in English.

  • Title, Abstract, Keywords (mandatory in both languages):

    • If the manuscript is in English, authors must also provide an Arabic title, abstract (150–250 words), and 3–6 Arabic keywords.

    • If the manuscript is in Arabic, authors must also provide an English title, abstract (150–250 words), and 3–6 English keywords.

  • Figures, tables, and units:

    • Captions may be in the manuscript language. Where helpful, authors may add a second (bilingual) caption.

    • Use SI units throughout; numerals should be Arabic numerals (0–9).

  • Language quality:

    • English manuscripts must be clear and grammatically correct; professional editing is encouraged.

    • Arabic manuscripts should be in Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحى) with consistent terminology and spelling.

  • References:

    • Use the journal’s reference style.

    • For non-English references, provide the original citation and an English transliteration/translation of the title in brackets (e.g., “[in Arabic]”).

  • Anonymity for peer review: Remove author-identifying text from the manuscript file and metadata; place names/affiliations only on the title page (uploaded separately).

  • Responsibility for translations: Authors are responsible for the accuracy of Arabic↔English translations (title/abstract/keywords and any optional bilingual captions).

Manuscript Format

  • File: .docx (Word), double-spaced, A4, 2.5 cm margins, Times New Roman 12 pt, continuous line numbers, page numbers.

  • Sections (typical IMRaD): Title, Authors & Affiliations, Corresponding author email, Abstract (150–250 words), Keywords (3–6), Nomenclature (if needed), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, Funding, Data Availability, Conflicts of Interest, References.

  • Units: SI throughout. Equations in MathType/Equation Editor and numbered (1), (2)…

  • Figures/Tables: supply within the manuscript and as separate files. Photos at ≥300 dpi (TIFF/JPG), line art/plots at ≥600 dpi (TIFF/EPS/PDF). Ensure clear labels; place tables in editable Word format. Provide concise captions. Obtain permission for any third-party material.

References (IEEE numeric style)
Citations in text as [1], [2]–[4] in order of appearance. Examples:

  • Journal: A. Author, “Paper title,” Journal Name, vol. 12, no. 3, pp. 123–135, 2024. doi:10.xxxx/xxxxx

  • Book: B. Author, Book Title, 2nd ed. City: Publisher, 2023.

Ethics
The journal follows COPE guidelines. Declare conflicts of interest and funding. Studies involving humans/animals or field sampling must state ethics/permit approvals. Submissions are screened for plagiarism.

Data & Materials
Add a Data Availability Statement (e.g., repository link or “available on reasonable request”). Supplementary files (datasets, code, high-res figures) are welcome.

Peer Review
Submissions undergo double-anonymous peer review. Do not include identifying information in the manuscript; provide a separate title page if needed.

Preprints & Archiving
Posting a preprint is allowed; please update it with the citation and link to the published Version of Record upon acceptance.
