About the Journal

The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published biannually by the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, University of Mosul. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and technical papers in petroleum engineering, refining, mining, mineral processing, geology, and related disciplines. Its mission is to advance scientific knowledge and promote innovation by providing a platform for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to share their findings.

Focus and Scope

The journal covers (but is not limited to) the following areas:

• Petroleum exploration, drilling, and production engineering
• Refining and petrochemical processes
• Mining engineering and mineral processing
• Geology and geophysics
• Environmental aspects of petroleum and mining industries
• Energy resources and sustainable technologies

Open Access Policy

JPM provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Copyright Notice

Authors retain the copyright of their articles and grant the journal the right of first publication.

Sponsorship Disclosure
The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) is published under the auspices of the University of Mosul, College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. The journal is currently fully funded by the University, allowing authors to publish without incurring any fees. To ensure the long-term sustainability and continued advancement of the journal, the introduction of a publication fee is under consideration for future issues. Should such a policy be implemented, full details will be communicated transparently and well in advance through the journal’s official website.

History

The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) commenced publication in January 2025 with the release of its pilot issue (Volume 0, Issue 0). Maintaining its biannual schedule—January and July—the next issue appeared on July 1, 2025, as Volume 1, Issue 2, marking the formal launch of the journal’s regular publication cycle. This numbering reflects the transition from the pilot phase to the establishment of JPM’s standard sequence, where each volume encompasses two issues per year. Since then, JPM has served as a distinguished platform for advancing research in petroleum engineering, refining, mining, geology, and related fields, fostering both academic inquiry and industrial development.

Archiving
The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. The journal is in the process of implementing recognized digital preservation practices to safeguard its archives, supporting the enduring availability and integrity of its scholarly work for future generations.
