Abstract

. . (371) (65) : " " . . . .The research aims to reveal stress sources of special education teachers in Iraq , and to know whether there are differences according to the variables of governorate , age , sex , social status , academic achievement , years of service in general , and years of experience in special education classes . The sample consisted of (371) teachers distributed on six general educational offices.. The researchers used aquestionnaire consisting of (65) items divided on (5) aspects of : Class environment , personal aspect , managing policies , occupational role , and relations with others . The alternatives of the questionnaire were (very much , to a big extent , not very much , a little , at all) . The validity and reliability of the questionnaire was verified. The data were statistically analysed using t-test and variance analysis . The results showed that there are (8) sources of stress for special education teachers: classroom environment, students' characteristics, the relation with parents, studying curriculum ,school characteristics, role conflict , ambiguity of the role, and finally the load of the role . There were statistical significant differences in some sources according to the study variables .Given the above mentioned results , the researcher presented a number of recommendations and suggestions to treat the sources of stress for teachers of special education to assure their success in fulfilling their educational role .
